Holly Hunter (born Holly Hunter) is an American actress and producer. She is gaining recognition for her exceptional performance in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Holly Hunter won many awards which included an Oscar for her role in the film Piano. She started her career acting as an actress both on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. It has always been her passion. In the fifth grade she played Helen Keller in an original play. She was born deaf in the one ear after suffering from Mumps, but she didn't allow this handicap to hinder her determination to become an actress. When she was a teenager, she took classes in drama at college and moved to New York City from Pittsburgh to follow her dreams. In a chance encounter she was trapped in an elevator along with the playwright Beth Henley and the two joined forces to create the Broadway Crimes of the Heart' which made Hunter's debut. After that, she relocated into Los Angeles and tried to land films roles. For Swing Shift, she landed a role as a support. Her professional career spans over 30 years and she's appeared in many TV movies, films and series. Holly Hunter is a Hollywood Walk of Fame celebrity and has been awarded the Women in Film Lucy Award.
